about
‘Survival Of The Fittest’ is one of the darkest tracks on the new Eyemèr EP. With this song, Eyemèr talks about someone having suicidal thoughts and tendencies. The person talks about these thoughts to someone they trust, explaining how frustrating it is that they dream of ending their life, but do not ‘have the guts’ to actually act on it. Of course, for the other person this is very hard to hear and they are just relieved that the suicidal person hasn’t attempted anything.
‘Survival Of The Fittest’ talks about the impact of a severe mental illness on both the ill person, as well as those close to them.
lyrics
this place is not your place
you’ve been trying to fit
in a box that is too thin
hate builds up
when you keep to yourself
so please
just yell for once
you sighed
‘last night
I dreamt of leaving the world behind
but now
I’m not ready to’
if others knew what you are
they would declare you mad
but that’s what we all are here
you sighed
‘last night
I dreamt of leaving the world behind
but now
I’m not ready to’
you sighed
‘last night
my planet asked my to return
but now
I’m not ready to’
if survival of the fittest is really true
then how did we evolve to this
you sighed
‘last night
‘I dreamt of leaving the world behind’
