On the 22nd of March, 2016, the Brussels Airport was attacked by terrorists. In the weeks afterwards, many people had their sense of safety shattered and were afraid to go outside. Eyemèr felt a need to write about this topic; firstly, to cope with their own anxiety during this time, but also to make others feel less alone.

While working on the lyrics, the track ‘On My Own’ began to evolve and gain a new meaning to Eyemèr as they wrote parts about learning to go out and make friends after getting used to living in isolation. During their teenage years, Eyemèr did not have many friends. At times, they had absolutely no one they were close to. After a while, they started to believe that wanting to be alone was simply a personality trait of theirs; the way they were wired to be. However, over the past few years, Eyemèr has realised it is healthy to spend time with others. They still enjoy their ‘alone time’, but now know that it is important to push themselves to go out and be with others as well.
